UMMC Adult Rehabilitation Services DPT Workforce Enhancement Scholarship

Program Overview:

  1. The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) offers a limited number of service scholarships to third year physical therapy students in the Physical Therapy program (hereinafter referred to as the DPT program) who wish to become physical therapists in qualifying positions at UMMC.

Application Dates:

Applications must be submitted during the third year of the DPT program and after a formal offer from UMMC has been received for a qualifying position.

Awards are made once a formal job offer is given and accepted by student, and as funding is available.

Eligibility Requirements:

Recipients must meet the following eligibility requirements

  1. Recipient must be accepted and enrolled as a third-year student in the DPT program;
  2. Recipient must have received an offer of employment in a Qualifying Position and must begin no later than sixty (60) days after graduation from the DPT program.
  3. Recipient must apply for and receive the Adult Rehabilitation Services DPT Workforce Enhancement Scholarship;
  4. Recipient must agree to a service commitment of one year for each semester that the scholarship award is accepted and received by Recipient

Award Amount: 

The UMMC Adult Rehabilitation Services DPT Workforce Enhancement Scholarship awards full tuition only for up to three (3) semesters of the third year of the DPT program. 

Service Obligation:

 Recipient must:

  1. Be enrolled as a third-year student, at UMMC in the DPT Program;
  2. Seek and obtain qualifying position within sixty (60) days of graduation;
  3. Apply for, be awarded and accept the Adult Rehabilitation DPT WES;
  4. Maintain full-time enrollment in the DPT program;
  5. Satisfy all UMMC pre-employment qualifications, and maintain one year employment in a Qualifying Position for each semester that the scholarship award is accepted and received by recipient;
  6. Complete the ninety (90) day orientation period required for the Qualifying Position, prior to beginning the commitment period;
  7. Within sixty (60) days after graduation and within ten (10) days of completing orientation and then annually, thereafter, the Recipient will provide the Office of Student Financial Services with written verification of employment in a Qualifying Position via email to acct-studentloans@umc.edu

How to Apply:

Complete online application.  The online application must be completed each and every academic semester for which the Applicant seeks this scholarship. 

After the Application:

If Recipient meets the eligibility criteria, and funding is available, the Recipient will receive a link from ECSI through Recipient’s UMMC email, which will route Recipient to the contract for Recipient’s review. If Recipient chooses to accept the award, they must

1) sign the contract in ECSI, and

2) accept the award in Workday.

Scholarships will be awarded on a semester-by-semester basis.
